mmotimesheaderIIIssue 89: The Siege of Orgrimmar is live on all WoW servers, but that isn’t my excuse for my lapse in posting the Times. Life, as is always my excuse, just got busy again. Hopefully I will be more astute with my MMO news for a little while, especially since BlizzCon is in the not too distant future (in a month and a half I believe). Honestly, based on the time I have spent trying to catch up on my MMO news, I don’t think I have missed too many “WTF” or “ZOMG” headlines. If I do miss a particularly exciting, or troubling, headline please provide the link in the comments; unless it contains spoilers, like the Horde’s new Warchief (and its not a stack of peacebloom). Then please don’t reveal that so people can choose when they find out.

I tried not to go too far back as anything that is too old probably isn’t worth pointing out anymore. I have found some news for The Secret World, Guild Wars 2, MechWarrior Online and more. Anything that has gone live last Tuesday (or prior) (which seems to be a popular day for launching new content) I’m sure everyone knows about so I won’t get into things like WoW’s 5.4 patch, Marvel Heroes, FFXIV, etc.

IGN’s Suggested MMO Titles to Watch

Posted 9.13.17 – I thought this was a pretty interesting article; it lists out a couple of upcoming MMO titles that you should keep your eyes on. I generally agree with most of them (specifically WildStar and World of Darkness). There are a couple I haven’t heard of but all-in-all, this is a really good list. Is there any one in particular you are excited, or even mildly curious, about?

BlizzCon Virtual Tickets Available

Posted 9.13.13 – If you cannot make the trip out to Anaheim for BlizzCon this year, then you should check out the Virtual Ticket. I purchase the Virtual Ticket every year not only for the in-game goodies but so I can hear about all the exciting news in real time. It has not been officially announced what you will receive with this year’s virtual ticket, all they say about it is that you will receive the same in-game goodies that those attending the conference will receive.

TSW New Costumes

Posted 9.16.13 – I think one of the big appeals of The Secret World are the “Sim-like” costumes your character can don while saving the modern world from the evil supernatural. This post will help you acquire 20 different costumes just from completing quests. If you are a costume-junkie in TSW, check out this guild, it’s pretty good.

Tequatl Walk Through GW2’s Tequatl Rising

Posted 9.17.13 – Guild War 2’s latest content update, Tequatl Rising, is live for players to enjoy. Undead dragons are roaming about ready to devour unsuspecting prey (which could be you!). There is a new group-combat experience for players to fight these new adversaries but it won’t be easy. The devs have offered a walk through to check out which was debuted at PAX Prime, check it out if you want some tips.

MWO No Longer In Beta

Posted 9.17.13 – If you have been participating in the MechWarrior Online beta and wondering when they will ever announce the date that the game will officially go live, well, that’s going to be September 17th. Yea, thats the day this article was posted because the “beta” tag has officially been dropped off. There has been a lot of topics that have covered MWO as its gone through its beta phase so this Massively post will provide a pretty good “roundup” (as its called) for your review. Anyone playing it?

FFXIV On Sale Again (PC Only)

Posted 9.17.13 – If you haven’t picked up Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn yet, now is your chance. On the Square Enix Digital Store the PC version is available once again and its on sale. The rumor is that the PSN version will be available soon. FFXIV is only available on the PC and PS3, but will be released for the PS4 when that becomes available. This game, which is its second iteration, seems to have succeeded in renewing its quality namesake as many are extremely satisfied with the latest version. Are you playing it? What do you think?

Blizzard Shutting Down D3 AHs

Posted 9.17.13 – When I first read the Massively headline, I really didn’t believe what it was suggesting. It is true, Blizzard officially announced that in March 2014 both Auction Houses in Diablo III will be shut down permanently. In some ways I’m kind of surprised, but then again I haven’t played D3 in months so I don’t know if the alleged “undermining of gameplay” is a valid reason. I only made like $5 off the Real Money Auction House and was only randomly successful selling anything else on the gold auction house.
