Final Thoughts and Theories on Ahsoka

I’m going to start off by saying that I really do enjoy this series. People often ask me what my favorite Disney+ Star Wars series is, which is always difficult to answer. There are many things to consider when making that decision. I’m not particularly eager to rank Star Wars movies or series. I will watch all of them multiple times throughout the year. I enjoy them all and each for different reasons.

That being said, in terms of acting, writing, world-building, and character development, Andor easily wins out. It’s probably the best in the franchise. However, the series I connect with the most are Ahsoka and Kenobi.

Ahsoka Part Eight

Ahsoka Part Eight Ezra

Title: The Jedi, the Witch and the Warlord
Directed By: Rick Famuyiwa
Runtime: 48 minutes

I can’t believe we are already at the (season one) finale! It has been an incredible journey and I’m looking forward to more (please let there be a season two). I will probably write a separate post that wraps up my thoughts and feelings on this series but, in the meantime, let’s talk about Ahsoka Part Eight.

The director is no stranger to the Star Wars franchise. Rick Famuyiwa has directed several excellent episodes of The Mandalorian. He does another fantastic job on this finale.

With time running out, Ahsoka, Ezra, and Sabine must race to try to stop Thrawn from returning to the home galaxy. Is Thrawn prepared to face Anakin’s former padawan?

Ahsoka Part Seven

Mon Mothma Ahsoka Part Seven

Title: Dreams and Madness
Directed By: Geeta Vasant Patel
Runtime: 45 minutes

This is the penultimate episode of the season. I don’t know how much preamble I can provide. Geeta Vasant Patel is a new director to the franchise. I don’t recognize much of her other work but I think she did a great job on Ahsoka Part Seven.

Of course, we should start with a quick recap. Thrawn has completed his preparations for his return to the home galaxy. Ahsoka arrives at Peridea with a trap waiting for her. Shin and Baylan’s alliance with the bandits makes trouble for Ezra and Sabine.

Peridea

Title: Far, Far Away
Directed By: Jennifer Getzinger
Runtime: 48 minutes

How do you follow up on an episode like the one we saw last week? I do not expect another “banger” of an episode this week. In fact, with only three episodes left in this season, this episode’s purpose is to set up the final two. Here are my thoughts on Ahsoka Part Six.

First, we have a new director. Jennifer Getzinger is known for directing various episodes of Mad Men, Agent Carter, Daredevil, and Jessica Jones (to name a few). I think she does an excellent job in this episode.

Ahsoka Part Five

Ahsoka Part Five

Title: Shadow Warrior
Directed By: Dave Filoni
Runtime: 51 minutes

We are past the halfway point. It’s fitting that the director for the episode that follows the mid-season episode is the man himself. The two words that have been echoing in our minds since last week, “Hey Snips”, will finally have context. Let’s talk about Ahsoka Part Five.

Favorite episode! I want to put that episode on repeat and watch it all day! It isn’t just Dave Filoni who gives us all the feelings but Kevin Kiner’s score as well! Let’s quickly recap.

HMDYK About Ray Stevenson

Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll

The Ahsoka series has me really digging Ray Stevenson’s character, Baylan Skoll. Unfortunately, we lost Ray back in May of this year (2023). In my opinion, he left on an incredibly high note. His character is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters in the franchise. It’s exciting and depressing. In honor of the late great actor, how much do you know about Ray Stevenson?
