Issue 98: March 14th is the almighty Pi Day (3.14), I have acknowledged this day since high school trigonometry (Thanks Mr. Urban). How did you celebrate Pi Day? Sadly I had to work today, but I think a Cheesecake (I know, it says cake, but it looks like a pie) this evening. Be that as it may, check out these awesome headlines in the MMO world lately.
Some World of Warcraft expansion news (which I’m sure most of you are already aware of); actually there is quite a bit of Blizzard related news from Hearthstone to Heroes of the Storm. If you play any of Blizzard’s titles, I’m sure you know about most of them. Age of Wushu has some new information about a possible expansion, and remember WildStar? There are some new details surrounding the official release. So put down the pie-fork and game on, friends!
Next WoW Expansion Coming “Soon”
Posted 3.10.14 – WoW players woke up to a very pleasant surprise, Blizzard has started accepting pre-orders for the next WoW expansion, Warlords of Draenor! A specific launch date has not been given; all we know is that it will be out sometime this fall and before December 20th. If you pre-order the game now you will be given the “Instant 90” level boost. There are, thus far, two versions of the game to pre-order. The Digital Standard version (for $49) and the Digital Deluxe (for $69 – which comes with the Dread Raven Mount and Pet). I haven’t seen anything yet about the Collector’s Edition.

Age of Wushu Expansion Announced
Posted 3.11.14 – I haven’t been playing Age of Wushu, I was trying it out before I had to reformat my computer and I haven’t gotten back around to re-installing it. Be that as it may, if you are playing Age of Wushu then you will be happy to hear about an expansion coming this Spring. The title of the expansion is Tempest of Strife which will had a few new features to the game including 6 new sects players can join. There will also be an interesting update to the weather, which apparently can trigger “mysterious events” depending on the type of weather.

Hearthstone Officially Launched
Posted 3.11.14 – We all knew when Blizzard announced that they were shutting the beta down for Hearthstone that the official launch was imminent. If you have been following the development of this game then I’m sure you know by now that the game has officially launched. If you are using the Battle.net desktop launcher then you should already have the release version of the game. If you are also playing World of Warcraft then you will want to check out the details on how to obtain the free mount, Hearthsteed. Yes, it looks awesome; yes, I already have it.

The pricing and other details are available in Massively’s post, along with the Pre-Order Trailer. Is anyone thinking about getting this game?

Heroes of the Storm In Alpha
Posted 3.13.14 – So much happening with Blizzard this week, they certainly have been keeping us all excited while we endure one final winter encounter. Blizzard’s other work in progress, Heroes of the Storm, has entered Alpha. It looks like there are only a select few that have gotten an invite into the alpha testing; it looks like it will show up in your battle.net launcher. Obviously we probably won’t hear a lot of details about the game as I’m sure Blizzard will have an NDA for anyone participating in the alpha.

Infinite Crisis Enters Open Beta
Posted 3.14.14 – So not only was it Pi Day, but it was also an exciting day for DC fans and gamers as Infinite Crisis went into Open Beta. If you have forgotten, Infinite Crisis is Turbine’s latest MOBA featuring all of your favorite DC Comic heroes. I already have some friends checking it out. I’d be interested in any feedback anyone has about their experiences in the beta.
