VaderProfile2013May610Issue 119:  E3 was this week in sunny California, what goodies were in store for us? Speaking of “store”, don’t forget that the Steam ‘Monster’ Summer Sale ends on the 21st (Father’s Day – which I don’t think is a coincidence … just sayin 😉 ). Despite the fact that this is usually a post about MMORPGs, usually during big conventions I make an exception so there are going to be posts about games that are not MMOs.

I think several of these companies are as excited to tell us their news as we are to hear it. Bathesda rocked our world with their E3 presentation and E3 didn’t even officially begin until June 16th. BioWare has some “leaked” news about SWTOR, Microsoft making some big announcements for X-Box, Sony has a surprise too about a beloved franchise, and many, many more things. I’m sure E3 this year has given all of us gaming nerds strange tingling feelings in our special places. What was your favorite E3 moment? KCGO

Next SWTOR Expansion “Leaked”

Posted 6.13.15 – There is going to be another expansion coming for The Old Republic and the news of said expansion was allegedly “leaked”. It was supposed to be BioWare’s big announcement for E3 but, coincidentally, it showed up on the official website. Hmm, I don’t think this is some Jedi Mind Trick. The title of the expansion is Knights of the Fallen Empire, which I think is a pretty cool title. I can’t wait for more details and a trailer!

Bathesda’s Presentation Rocked

Posted 6.14.15 – Bathesda’s E3 presentation was probably one of the most anticipated events this week and it’s because of two games: Fallout 4 and Doom 4, and they did not disappoint. Despite my loathing of the architecture of the X-Boned, err X-Box One, these two games kind of make me wish I had one (but that isn’t going to happen A) because I won’t give up my Special Edition R2-D2 X-Box 360 and B) because I can’t play any of my 360 games on an X-Box One – I retract B, see below). In any event, each of the following links will take you to the E3 trailers:

Microsoft Grew A Brain!

Posted 6.15.15 – As R.E.M. sang “It’s the end of the world as we know it!” because Microsoft finally caved (or pandered I suppose) to those of us who don’t want to own two consoles to play games by the same manufacturer. The biggest news (so far) to come from the E3 press events is that Microsoft has officially decided to make the X-Box One backwards compatible with the 360. What a novel idea! Basically, with the original disc, you can get a version of that game for the X-Box One … and for FREE!! Yes FREE! I think I might pass out from shock!

Final Fantasy VII Remake

Posted 6.15.15 – There was much rejoicing among Final Fantasy fans as Square Enix announced at E3 that FFVII is getting a remake. It sounds like it will be out for the PS4 first and then PC and other consoles later. I know this has been something fans have been clamoring for since FFVII was released. It’s good to see Sony and Square Enix finally listened.

StarCraft 2 Expansion Update

Posted 6.16.15 – Many have been anxiously awaiting an update on StarCraft 2’s final expansion, Legacy of the Void. Blizzard has finally delivered an update, but it might not be the one everyone wanted. They did not give a release date (which is what I suspect everyone was expecting to hear), however they are going to put in a “prologue” to transition the story from Wings of Liberty to Legacy of the Void. The manner in which they are doing that will come in the form three in-game missions.

Heroes of the Storm Expansion, Already

Posted 6.17.15 – Heroes of the Storm is barely 3 weeks old and Blizzard is already calling Eternal Conflict an expansion. This “expansion” is what will include the Diablo II Heaven and Hell maps as well as some new characters and heroes (The Butcher and a Diablo III Monk). Apparently there will also be the notorious loot trolls that could pop up randomly. Interesting mechanic. Check out the trailer in the link below.

WoW: Patch 6.2 Goes Live 6.23

Posted 6.17.15 – I kind of figured the next big content patch was going to hit live servers next week. This means we will be getting our bigger garrisons, the next raid tier (Hellfire Citadel), next step in the legendary quest, new mounts (that’s the important one), and more! There is, as usual, a trailer for the patch, called Fury of Hellfire, and you can check out said trailer in the following link. Enjoy.
