The MMO Times: Heroes Assemble!

mmotimesheaderIIIssue 77:Instead of finding a headline about Marvel Heroes, I thought I would remind everyone here, Marvel Heroes went live this week (in case you didn’t know)! I haven’t tried it out yet but I haven’t heard anything bad about it, usually if something is bad the first thing gamers do is whine about it online. In fact I’ve heard that if you enjoy League of Legends that you will really enjoy Marvel Heroes! If anyone out there has an opinion about the game so far, I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts.

You will notice that June 4th was quite a newsworthy day; it was not only the day that Marvel Heroes went live but there were quite a few announcements and some pre-E3 trailers unveiled. There is some RIFT, Aion and World of Warships news, an announcement from Blizzard and Bioware, and more! Check it out!

The MMO Times: Patch Pandemonium

mmotimesheaderIssue 74: The next patch for World of Warcraft, 5.3, did not go live this week. Based on the release pattern of the content patches this expansion I would expect the final Mists of Pandaria patch, 5.4, to be here around August (when Garrosh gets what he deserves). In the meantime, several other games are patching in new content, a few of which are available now!

I’m not going to mention everything that patched this week because then you might not read the rest of this post. There’s no need for any Jedi Mind Tricks, though I know you are “dye-ing” to know what’s new in SWTOR. There’s even some League of Legends news!

The MMO Times: Sans Kitchen Sink

Issue 53: Greetings Gamers! As you will see after the break, this has been a pretty busy week because it feels like everything (except the kitchen sink) is getting an update and, finally, the launch of the SWTOR Free-2-Play option and Update 1.5. I am surprised that the 5.1 update for Mists of Pandaria has not been released yet. It seems like it has been on the PTR forever!

If you are wondering, like me, when to expect the 5.1 patch for Mists of Pandaria, they are starting to publish Release Candidate builds to the PTR. This means that the builds they are compiling are nearly ready for live servers (my prediction is next week – Happy Thanksgiving!). In the meantime, check out the latest news regarding RIFT, EverQuest II, SWTOR, Aion and other exciting titles. Read on and game on, friends!

The MMO Times: Frankenstorm!

Issue 51: Greetings Gamers! I hope all of you, and your loved ones, are safe from Hurricane Sandy rampaging through the eastern seaboard. I imagine if you are on the east coast, and reading this, then you are in good shape. I think with Halloween this week and Sandy being the bigger story, there wasn’t too much to read about this past 10 days.

There is more RIFT expansion news, including the revelation of the Defiler soul. More beta news for RIFT and MechWarrior Online (which is due out February 1st). There is also the second, of three, new classes in Aion has been revealed, complete with a video; that’s definitely worth checking out. So stay safe, stay dry and keep on gaming!

The MMO Times: 50!

Issue 50: Hello Everybody! I can’t believe I am sending out the 50th issue of this email/post. I hope all of you have found the stories I provide useful and interesting. This issue has some updates on some titles many of us may have forgotten about. Since Blizzard and Bioware have been doing random server maintenance perhaps this will be a good thing to check out during that down time.

This issue we have several new trailers for a couple titles we haven’t heard much about lately, including Age of Wushu and Transformers Universe. Since New York Comic Con 2012 just happened, several companies took the opportunity to unveil the trailers for their upcoming titles. There is also more information about changes coming to future updates of Aion and the new RIFT expansion, Storm Legion. Read on and game on, friends!

The MMO Times: Lots of Beta Going On

Issue 49: Greetings again, Gamers! I hope all of you have been enjoying your time in Pandaria (if that is your game of choice right now, if not then I hope you are enjoying the realms of your other games). I took an extra couple of days for this issue so we could have a few additional headlines to talk about. There hasn’t been too much going on in the MMO world since there was so much that has gone live in the past couple of weeks.

In this issue there are several beta announcements. You will see beta news for RIFT, The War Z and Marvel Heroes. Some interesting statistics for World of Tanks as well as some more content news for Allods Online and Guild Wars 2.
