Issue 50: Hello Everybody! I can’t believe I am sending out the 50th issue of this email/post. I hope all of you have found the stories I provide useful and interesting. This issue has some updates on some titles many of us may have forgotten about. Since Blizzard and Bioware have been doing random server maintenance perhaps this will be a good thing to check out during that down time.

This issue we have several new trailers for a couple titles we haven’t heard much about lately, including Age of Wushu and Transformers Universe. Since New York Comic Con 2012 just happened, several companies took the opportunity to unveil the trailers for their upcoming titles. There is also more information about changes coming to future updates of Aion and the new RIFT expansion, Storm Legion. Read on and game on, friends!

Transformers Universe Official Trailer

Posted 10/14/12 – Jagex has been keeping a tight lid on the progress of Transformers Universe but at NYCC 2012 they may have surprised folks by revealing the first official trailer for this title. It’s kind of “meh” for me. I don’t really see anything extraordinary about this title, actually it looks a bit cartoonie. The title isn’t scheduled to be released until 2013 so perhaps the game is still unpolished. Follow the link to check out the trailer.

New Marvel Heroes Trailer

Posted 10/13/12 – AT NYCC 2012 Gazillion revealed the latest Marvel Heroes Trailer which shows several of the characters you will be able to play. It also demonstrates some of the in-game mechanics. It definitely looks like Diablo III style with a Marvel twist. It actually looks kind of fun and since it will be Free-2-Play, I guess we can’t complain too much. New Title! Age of Wushu Teaser Trailer

Posted 10/11/12 – At the GDC Online convention, a new trailer for Age of Wushu premiered. This is the martial arts based MMO that was originally slated to release this month, on the 18th, but the date was pushed to May 3rd, 2013. Snail Games wanted to keep folks excited about this new title so they released this trailer. It kind of has the appeal of a martial arts film, which might be the concept they are aiming for with this MMO. You can check out the three minute video by visiting the following link.

beta! MechWarrior Online Open Beta Coming! [Update]

Posted 10/10/12 – The closed beta of MechWarrior Online apparently has been a huge success for Piranha Games. In fact they were so impressed with the feedback that they will be opening the beta up to all fans on October 16th! F2P! Marvel Heroes Will Be True F2P

Posted 10/10/12 – In this Forbes article, lead developer David Brevik talks about what Free-2-Play has come to mean in the MMO market these days. He comments on the fact that some games that claim to be F2P are not actually 100% free, there is still some small expense the player will incur if they want to unlock some facet of the game. I agree when he says that sometimes the term “Free-2-Play” feels more of a buzz word. Marvel Heroes, on the other hand, will be 100% free to play. Check out this article, its pretty interesting.

Aion Teases At Possible Gunslinger Class

Posted 10/10/12 – NCSoft has been keeping a tight lid on what is coming in the 4.0 update for Aion. A recent developer blog revealed some concept drawings of a possible new class, Gunner, or gunslinger class (the dev blog is in Korean so the class name is a loose translation). If you follow the link to the Massively website it will have a couple of the concept images. I have to say, it looks pretty bad ass.

RIFT 1.11 Update Details

Posted 10/9/12 – Trion has released some details about the upcoming game update 1.11 which is the final content patch before Storm Legion (due out November 13th). This content patch will have the Tempest Rising world event, early access to the new dungeon (if you pre-ordered Storm Legion) as well as a revamp of the soul system. There is no mention of when this patch will be live. Follow the link to read more about patch 1.11.
