Issue 79: What does Tony Soprano and the death of James Gandolfini have to do with MMOs? Absolutely nothing, but since this is my blog and I am a huge Sopranos fan, he gets honorable mention in this issue. If you have never seen The Sopranos, get on Netflix and watch it now! I’m a sucker for mafia and mobster movies and shows and The Sopranos was the epitome. James Gandolfini’s endearing smile and extraordinary talents will be sorely missed.
Mobsters and Waste Management Consultants aside, there are a few exciting things happening this week in various MMO titles. I couldn’t find a specific headline worth posting so I will just let you know that Game Update 2.2 for SWTOR went live this week! There is also new content coming to GW2, Marvel Heroes, MWO and of course World of Warcraft as more details of patch 5.4 come out. So while you are watching The Sopranos, check out these headlines, and don’t screw it up or you’ll lose two teeth!

New Costumes Added to Marvel Heroes
Posted 6.18.13 – If you have tried out Marvel Heroes you should give it a try, especially if you liked Diablo 3 styled games. I think its pretty fun. One of the neat features that some people like about the game is unlocking the various costumes for the heroes. You can get some pretty unique costumes and some old-school retro style costumes, which is what Gazillion has added recently for Colossus and Ms. Marvel.

New Quickdraw Mech Added to MWO
Posted 6.18.13 – Piranha Games has added a new mech to MechWarrior Online for those that want to try to get up-close-and-personal. There is an interesting point in the Massively post, most of the mechs in MWO attack from ranged and rarely can you get in close with another mech. Obviously stealth isn’t an easy capability when you are walking around in an 8-ton machine. The Quickdraw is a nimble, maneuverable mech with short range weapons. The theory is that players using this mech should be able to get in close and cause some damage.

New Engineering Gadgets in 5.4
Posted 6.15.13 – If have character(s) with Engineering in WoW (I have two) then you will be excited for Patch 5.4. Not only will there be several new gadgets (pets, mounts, etc) but there will be a new way of learning them. Reading the article it doesn’t sound like you go to your trainer (though that might be an option), instead you have to kill mobs in the Vale and they have, allegedly, a decent chance of dropping Chief Engineer Jard’s Journal which will teach you all of the new schematics!

New Pet Store Item: Blossoming Ancient
Posted 6.14.13 – Blizzard has added more goodies to their pet store, this time in the form of a new companion pet. The Blossoming Ancient is now available for adoption from the Blizzard Pet Store. Actually I think this pet is kind of cool because it changes colors depending on the time of the year (spring, summer, fall, winter). If you visit the pet store page you can see screenshots of what the pet will look like during each season of the year.
