Andor Episode 12 is the Season One finale; just in time for Thanksgiving (if you live in the US). This episode will give you plenty to talk about at Thanksgiving dinner (instead of politics). We know there will be a time-lapse between this season and the next. How will this season end?
Cassian returns home for his mother’s funeral, which has a sacred and honored tradition on Ferrix. However, is he walking into a trap? Everyone is there looking for him to either arrest him or kill him. Tensions among the citizens are high because of the Empire’s presence and things are hitting their tipping point.
Rescues and Insurrections!
There are several posts out there claiming that this episode was going to be one of the longest episodes on Disney+. It is not. If you exclude the recap and the credits, it’s about 48 minutes. There are others that are equally as long, if not longer. That also goes to show you to be careful what you read and what sources you get your information from. Some are just out for clicks.
We get a final, wonderful performance from Fiona Shaw. Her swan song speech is the spark that ignites the fire of rebellion among the people of Ferrix. I loved it!
There are a few folks that die for the cause but they were all side characters (RIP Xan). Everyone else survives. I thought Basso might be killed, and for a while, I thought they were going to do that. I’m glad I was wrong and now he’s one of the new Rebel cells, at least that’s my Season Two prediction. Bix, Basso, Jezzi, and Wilmon Paak (Salman Paak‘s son) will be part of a new Rebel cell when Cassisn finds them a year later.
Speaking of predictions, I did have a couple that, essentially came to fruition. Karn and Meero survive and it seems pretty clear that they may join forces, but in what capacity? It will be interesting to watch that budding romance. So I was kind of right.
I really like how the episode ended, Andor requests to join the Rebellion. It ends perfectly to set up the one-year time jump. Unfortunately, we have to wait two years before we see what happens next.
