Title: Daughter of Ferrix
Director: Benjamin Caron
This is the penultimate episode. Andor (and Melshi) have escaped their prison on Narkina 5. Where are they going next? Perhaps to recover Cassian’s money? Maybe to Ferrix to check on Maarva? What about the Spellhaus attack? Let’s talk about Andor Episode 11!
We are building to a crescendo as Cassian is again a fugitive from the Empire. A moniker he will have for the rest of his life. As he and Melshi plan their next moves, Luthen and Mon Mothma are forced to make more sacrifices for the Rebellion.
The Imminent Showdown
In the Episode 10 post, I discuss what I think Cassian will do next. He does return for his money, first, which makes sense. Flying around the galaxy isn’t free. Finding out Maarva passed away is both heartbreaking and expected. Fiona Shaw gave an amazing performance in all her episodes and for that reason I’m sad the character died. However, Cassian needs a reason to return to Ferrix and her death is the necessary sacrifice to progress Cassian’s story.
I mention that they were building up to a final conflict at Spellhaus but that is clearly not where the story is going. The funeral on Ferrix is where all of this is going to come to a head. Everyone seems to know Maarva is dead and everyone is waiting for Cassian to show up. In fact, the only person we won’t see on Ferrix is Mon Mothma. She has her own problems.
Leida clearly loathes her mother yet seems to be embracing the Chandrilan traditions. Has Mon decided to accept Davo’s offer so she can launder her money? Is this why Leida shoots daggers at her mother while greeting Vel?
Finale Predictions
Cassian has to go back to Ferrix and what he finds will be the last straw. Someone is probably going to die. We know it’s not Cassian or Melshi (although he probably won’t be there). They might kill off Basso but, hopefully, not Bix. Bix needs to survive and have a bigger role in Season Two. I’m not sure who else is expendable. Perhaps Luthen?
I cannot see them killing Karn; they are not done with his story. Perhaps he will, ultimately, join forces with Dedra Meero? Although he has the makings of a serial killer. One day his mother is going to nag him too much and that will be his psychotic trigger.
If this season ends on a cliffhanger then Luthen survives and it ends with Cassian’s capture. I still think, given what we know about Season Two, this will end with Cassian joining the Rebellion.
