Issue 30

Hey Gamers! How does another issue of The MMO Times sound? If any of you are confused by the name of this issue, April 5th was First Contact Day because April 5th, 2063 is when Zeframe Cochrane makes first contact with the Vulcans, so there is some useless nerd minutia for you.

So this issue we have more SWTOR news, including a launch date for Game Update 1.2 (WOOT!). There is also some more beta and pre-order information for Guild Wars 2 and TERA. Again, I didn’t really talk too much about Mists of Pandaria because there aren’t a lot of details that are unknown at this point. Contrary to what I have said in previous posts (and on Google+) I actually have been trying out the MoP beta, perhaps I will cover that in a blog post.

SWTOR Game Update 1.2 Goes Live 4/12

Posted 4/10/12 – The date SWTOR players have been waiting for (aside from the launch date). Bioware has announced that the largest content patch since launch will go live on April 12th. Unless you have been living under a rock, you should be aware that this patch includes a new pvp warzone, new dailies, UI customization, legacy perks, and a plethora of other goodies.

TERA Open Beta Announced

Posted 4/10/12 – As the launch date approaches for the highly advertised TERA, En Masse announced that TERA is now in open beta. The game will be available for pre-order on April 28th. The graphics of this game look pretty amazing based on some of the videos I have seen from various conferences. I haven’t decided if I am going to give the beta a shot or not, I might have to. Guild Wars 2 Available for Pre-Order

Posted 4/10/12 – While there is still no launch date announced for this highly anticipated game, players can now pre-order the game. I have a few friends that have been playing the beta but I have not heard any opinions on the beta. If anyone wants to share their beta experience, please do so in the comments (of the blog post). Follow the link to read more about it.

Jewelcrafting Mounts in MoP

Posted 4/10/12 – For those of you that are looking forward, or following along, for Mists of Pandaria, Jewelcrafters will be able to craft panther mounts. I actually think they look kinda cool. The details of these new mounts are on all of the typical WoW news sites but I found the one on WoW Insider to be the best link to provide with pictures of these new mounts.

Cryptic Talks STO Future

Posted 4/5/12 – I thought the recent Ask Cryptic segment on Massively was pretty interesting as it pertains to the future of Start Trek Online. Since this game has gone F2P I have been inclined to check it out, I just haven’t had the time yet (playing WoW and SWTOR has a tendency to take up most of my gaming free time). I am a pseudo-trekkie so some of these details seem milding intriguing such as the implementation of the Andorian ship and the possibility of a Romulan playable class. Follow the link to read more about it.

SWTOR UI Customization Video

Posted 4/4/12 – Bioware posted a new video that shows the UI Customization in greater detail. This feature will be available with the upcoming Game Update 1.2. In my opinion it looks like they took some concepts from the X-Perl add on commonly used with WoW and implemented their own version. This is one of the features I am most looking forward to in the patch. Follow the link to read more and to watch the video.

What’s Your First Contact?

Shameless Plug – Yea, I am going to plug one of my own posts again, its not something I do very often but I did enjoy writing this post. April 5th was First Contact Day – for those unfamiliar with Sci-Fi dates, April 5th, 2063 is when the Humans made first contact with the Vulcans in the Star Trek franchise. As a commemoration for that day I did a post asking gamers to provide their first gaming experience. I began by sharing mine.
