Issue 43

Sorry for the AFK, Gamers. I became pretty swamped at work and I just didn’t have the time to read up on the latest MMO rumblings. I hope all of you found the time to perhaps read up on a few of stories on your own. Of course the biggest news to come out over the past two weeks is that in November SWTOR will adopt a Free-2-Play model. More on that in this issue.

Guild Wars 2 and the next WoW expansion are on the horizon and there is more details about MoP in this issue. If you are a DCUO fan, there is more DLC coming in September and more for the RIFT expansion and new Secret World content as well. Gamescom was this week so that probably explains the flood of new announcements coming out this week. Read on and game on, friends!

Official MoP Cinematic Trailer!

Posted 8/16/12 – Blizzard has unveiled the official Mists of Pandaria cinematic trailer at Gamescom. I freaking love this trailer and maybe that’s just because I love martial arts but I think this is amazing. Check out the video right here or visit WoW Insider!

The Secret World Digging Deeper Content Update

Posted 8/15/12 – As promised the next major content update for The Secret World is scheduled for August 28th and is named Digging Deeper. It seems everyone is competing with the Guild Wars 2 release, also scheduled for August 28th. The new content boasts a new rocket launcher weapon (sweet!) which will have seven new abilities, a new ability wheel, and more. You can also now change your character’s appearance in the new barber shop. I have to hand it to Funcom, they are doing right by this MMO. Follow the link to read more.

New DLC Coming Soon for DCUO

Posted 8/14/12 – Sony Online Entertainment has announced the fifth DLC for DC Universe Online will be coming in September. Hand of Fate, as it will be called, will bring new missions, new operations, new utility belt attachments and it will be free to Legendary players whereas others will need to purchase it from the online store. Pre-Mists Patch Coming August 28th

Posted 8/14/12 – Blizzard announced, in a blue post, that the Pre-Mists of Pandaria patch, 5.0.4, will hit the live servers on August 28th. This is also when the current PvP season will end and all raid lockouts will be reset. This patch is where we will get some of the new MoP features including account wide achievements and mounts, AoE looting, new talent system, and the infamous attack on Theramore, as well as other tweaks. Biggs On: SWTOR Going F2P

Posted 8/11/12 – Whether you like SWTOR or you hate it, Bioware is doing what they can to keep the game alive which I’m happy about. Their latest effort has been to provide a Free-2-Play model for the game starting in November while rewarding those that have kept their subscriptions active and for those that will maintain their subscription. These are my thoughts on the matter.

RIFT: New Soul In Storm Legion

Posted 8/10/12 – Trion continues to release additional information about their first expansion for RIFT – Storm Legion. Recently they announced the newest “soul” (whatever that means) and its a battle mage (so whatever it means, battle mage sounds pretty frakkin sweet). Bioware Answers F2P Questions

Posted 8/10/12 – Bioware has done one final Weekly Q&A before they switch to a different model for communicating to the players. In this Q&A they tried answer the myriad of questions on everybody’s mind regarding the decision to go Free-2-Play. I know there are probably many more questions still to be answered but this does help get some of the bigger ones out of the way. Follow the links to read more.
