Jecki Lon The Acolyte

Title: Night
Directed by: Alex Garcia Lopez

I said there would be an episode titled “Night”, although I don’t think that prediction is profound. Anyone could have guessed that but the title does have an ominous tone and this episode delivered on that.

This episode delivered on many levels and had us all feeling lots of emotions by the end. This is one of those episodes that I dread watching again because I’m not sure I’m ready to see certain things happen again. All in all, it’s another very solid episode from director Alex Garcia Lopez.

Duel of the Fates Part II

This episode gives us some amazing fight choreography. It almost rivals Duel of the Fates from The Phantom Menace but the outcome of this duel hits much harder. I was not expecting the deaths of Yord and Jecki, however, I shouldn’t be surprised. They were killed off because it was necessary to progress the story.

Is it weird to say that the way Yord dies was fitting for his character? Also, since Sol is the only Jedi alive after that epic battle, does that mean he is the … Sol survivor?? I’ll see myself out.

In case you are wondering, the armor repelled the stun blast because it’s made from cortosis. A material that exists in both legends and canon and can absorb energy blasts and short-out lightsabers. Some of us might remember it from KOTOR and Star Wars The Old Republic or if you’ve read the book Thrawn: Alliances (great book!).

I’m still not feeling the connection between Osha and Mae. I’m not sure if that’s the dialog or if Amandla Stenberg struggles with “talking to herself”. Perhaps it’s a little of both. I still think a flashback episode from Mae’s perspective is coming; maybe in the next episode.

Qimir the Nameless “Sith”

Manny Jacinto is absolutely amazing in this episode. It was obvious he was going to be Mae’s master. I think they kind of poked fun at themselves with Manny’s line “You really didn’t know it was me?”

This still doesn’t break canon. Just become he calls himself “Sith” doesn’t mean he is “Sith”. Plus, just before Ki-Adi-Mundi says that line we saw Darth Sidious and Darth Maul. The Sith were never extinct and Ki-Adi-Mundi was just wrong.

One more parting gift. What if Qimir and Sol are brothers?? A Twitter/X user pointed this out and it blew my mind!
