The Acolyte Initial Impressions

I am way behind the curve regarding the new show, I have been traveling so much it hasn’t left me much time for extra tasks. The latest Star Wars series, The Acolyte, premiered last week with the first two episodes. It’s going to be interesting for me to watch this series; I do not know that much about this era of Star Wars. I own the books, I just haven’t started reading them, yet. So let’s get into my initial impressions of The Acolyte.

I’ll start out by saying that I am really enjoying the series, so far. I will break this down into various discussion points. A quick warning, before I continue, this post will contain spoilers, so if you’re waiting until the series has been fully released then don’t keep reading but do come back.

Half-Marathon Achieved and the Future of Running

I did it! Earlier this month I completed my first half marathon. This is the culmination of all the running I have been doing for the past 10 years. My journey here has had its challenges from weight issues and prescription painkillers to a global pandemic. This is, essentially, a bucket list item for me so where do we go from here? What does the future of running look like for me?

Fantasy Month (2024) – Underworld

These movies are also great selections for Halloween month. Vampires and lycan (aka werewolves) are just as easily fantasy as they are horror. April snuck up on me fast so I had to make a quick decision as to the theme for Fantasy month. I hadn’t watched the Underworld movies in a while so it felt like a good time for a refresher.

There are five movies in the Underworld franchise. As I did for the Lethal Weapon movies, instead of doing them all individually, I am going to discuss them in a couple of groups. I will explain in a bit.

Before I go into each film, one of the things I like most about all of them is the pacing. They don’t stretch out the slower moments needed to move the plot along. The action almost feels non-stop which helps keep my attention.

WoW: Dragonflight State of the Fated Raid

Legendary axe

It’s been a while since the last gaming update. Dragonflight is entering the “fated raid” period of the expansion, the final phase of an expansion in the World of Warcraft. I’ll probably still write my “final thoughts” before the launch of The War Within, but this post may contain some of my thoughts and grievances.

The concept of “fated raids” began last expansion with Shadowlands. I think the term “fated” is used because it’s a character’s fate to die and go to the Shadowlands. Dragonflight does not take place in the afterlife, so they are called “awakened” raids for this expansion.

I know, you probably already figured that out on your own. Be that as it may, let’s get on with it.

Happy Star Wars Day (2024)

May the Fourth Be With You! On this Star Wars Day Lucasfilm has given us two great treats. The first is Tales of the Empire, essentially, season two of Tales of the Jedi. I haven’t had the opportunity to watch these yet, but they are on the list for this weekend.

The second big treat is a new, official trailer for The Acolyate. Check it out!!

The masked character at the end gives me Knights of Ren vibes. Obviously, it isn’t since the Knights of Ren were established after A New Hope (3 ABY) and this series is approximately 125 BBY.

This trailer definitely has me more intrigued than the teaser trailer.

How are you celebrating May the 4th?

Comedy Month (2024) – Donner and Gibson

The original intention was to go with a Mel Gibson comedy theme but then I realized that Richard Donner also directed all the movies I picked. If you are a movie aficionado like I am, you may have already guessed the films on this list this month. As I’ve said before, comedies are my favorite genre of film so picking just a handful is always difficult to do. However, I’m very satisfied with this month’s selections.
