Issue 45

Welcome to another issue of The MMO Times, gamers! I am a little delayed with the next issue because I have been away on vacation for the Labor Day holiday. However, I’m sure with PAX and the Guild Wars 2 release, many have had plenty to keep them busy.

So while the Left and the Right argue over who’s right and who’s wrong, there was some pretty exciting news released recently in the MMO gaming world. The rest of this year is looking pretty busy and gamers are going to have a difficult choice as to what they want to play. There are several Marvel Heroes headlines, more about the RIFT expansion, new content for SWTOR, MechWarrior Online and some very sad news about City of Heroes. Read on and game on!

Sad News: City of Heroes Closing

Posted 8/31/12 – I was so shocked to hear about NCSoft’s decision to shut down City of Heroes. I know they were struggling for a while but I hadn’t realized it was so severe. Perhaps the competition of DCUO and the upcoming Marvel Heroes was too much. I also wonder if it came down to the choice between CoH and Aion, but it seems kind of shady to suddenly pull the rug out from under their community. Follow the link to read more. [Update 9/5: Players are making an effort to save it from closing.]

The MechWarrior Catapault

Posted 8/31/12 – a new mech for MechWarrior Online has been unveiled. It’s called the Catapault and it’s the first long range mech that can fire an “express load” of hurt into your enemies face. These new mechs make this game more and more enticing to play and I’m not even a hardcore player of the original games. Follow the link to read more and see the video.
