Issue 75: Happy Memorial Day, Gamers. While spending your three-day weekend “pwning noobs”, raiding or questing, please remember our service men and women who gave their lives so that we may have the freedom to pwn noobs. Please take some time this weekend to come out from behind the computer or gaming console, go to a cook out, visit a cemetery of fallen soldiers, and remember those that fought for this country.
A lot of patches went live last week but the one that stands out to me the most was the WoW patch 5.3, which apparently has had several hot fixes since it went live. In fact instead of the 5.4 talks starting, its all been blue posts containing details of what was recently hot fixed. I have been hearing some good things about the SWTOR patch; post your feedback and comments with your thoughts.
MechWarrior Online has a new map they are showing off, Guild Wars 2 is a little easier to afford, and we are on the cusp of the Marvel Heroes release. I’m a couple of headlines short this issue because of the impending holiday weekend but I hope there are headlines here that strike your fancy! Read on and game on, friends!
Founders Program Opportunity Ends June 3rd
If you haven’t decided as to whether you will purchase the Founders Program for the upcoming Marvel Heroes title, time is running out. You have until June 3rd to make your decision. There are three packages to choose from and each one has unique rewards, depending on how much you’re willing to fork over. They range from $19.99 to $199.99; that’s quite pricey so I hope you really, really like it if you want to spend that kind of cash.

Paid Transfers Coming to SWTOR
Posted 5.22.13 – A paid feature folks have been clamoring for in SWTOR is the ability to move your characters to other servers. This is a popular option in WoW and other MMOs but Bioware has been pretty tight lipped on the status. They have finally opened up about it. It looks like players can expect a character transfer tool in game update 2.2. Bioware kept quiet about the status to manage expectations while they worked out glitches with the tool. As a software developer myself, I certainly appreciate their discretion.

Guild Wars 2 Price Cut
Posted 5.21.13 – If you have been on the fence about picking up Guild Wars 2, perhaps the latest price adjustment will help you decide. ArenaNet has lowered the price of the digital and digital deluxe editions of the game by $10 (making the prices $50 and $70 respectively). You can head over to the Guild Wars 2 website if you want to pick up a copy.

STO Expansion Recap
Posted 5.21.13 – An Item I believe I failed to mention in the previous MMO Times was the first Star Trek Online expansion also going live. Legacy of Romulus also went live on “Maintenance Tuesday” and in case you are wondering what goodies await your StarFleet officers, here is a list of the changes in the expansion (Massively’s “roundup” posts are generally pretty good at listing out changes in an expansion or patch).

New MechWarrior Map
Posted 5.21.13 – A new update to MechWarrior Online adds a new map entitled The Canyon Network. The map has a “Badlands” appearance with various cliffs, steep drops and sudden precipices. It looks like an awesome environment for sniping and strategic offensive and defensive opportunities. There are two videos with the post; one is a peak at the new map, the other is a spotlight on the Blackjack mech.
