The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 4

Book of Boba Fett Chapter 4

Boba prepares for war. He is Daimyo and as Daimyo he must protect that which he wishes to keep. Will the other families help protect that which they wish to keep? In the past, Boba wants his ship, the Slave 1, and he needs help to get it back.

This episode is a little slower but it’s aptly named. I think it’s setting up for the final 3 episodes. It spends a little more time in the past but, as you will see, there is a reason for that. Regardless of the pace of this episode, I did enjoy it because it’s Star Wars. Next week is going to be interesting.

But before we get into to much more detail …

Biggs On: Microsoft Acquires Activision Blizzard

The gaming community was rocked today when the news broke that Microsoft acquires Activision Blizzard. Assuming this deal actually goes through, and the DOJ doesn’t intervene with another antirust investigation, how does this affect me? I’m quite vocal about my distrust and distaste for anything Microsoft. This news makes my toes curl.

However, Activision Blizzard hasn’t exactly been a paragon of virtue. While Microsoft has their faults, their employees are not running around groping co-workers. I have respect for a company that provides some innovation, but I cannot respect a company that exhibits such disgusting behavior.

Maybe This Is The Right Change

Optimistic as Microsoft Acquires Activision Blizzard

Activision Blizzard has been struggling for over 6 months now to repair the damage caused by the scandal. During that time the community suffered and many players, including several of my friends, have left the game. After every step forward, new information is found, and we go two steps backwards. Perhaps this is the dramatic change that needs to happen to rectify the sins of the past.

I’ll admit, I was feeling dead inside when the news broke. My wife had an interesting way to explain it though. It’s like when Disney bought Star Wars. At the beginning I had mixed emotions, but now I’m overjoyed. I hope Microsoft makes the right changes to repair the community and bring the game back to life. I imagine Microsoft will be cleaning house of all the people that should have already been fired.

I’ll admit, the gaming division is the lesser evil at Microsoft. As long as it’s XBox that runs the show, I will be cautiously optimistic. My biggest concern is if Microsoft can’t fix the damage. World of Warcraft is the longest running title at Blizzard but its been hemorrhaging players and money for a while. If Microsoft cannot stop the bleeding, WoW might be the first to go.

I’m hoping for the best.

Please share some of your thoughts.

The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 3

Book of Boba Fett Chapter 3

Title: The Streets of Mos Espa
Directed by: Robert Rodriguez
Runtime: 38 minutes

Boba Fett’s struggle to establish himself as Daimyo continues. There are many that do not recognize his authority, and some who don’t even see him as a threat. In his past, Boba travels to Mos Eisley as proxy for his Tusken tribe to confront the Pyke Syndicate regarding their debt.

This is another fun episode, with some especially fun guest stars (not to be confused with cameos). I will get into those guest stars in a bit. Loyalties are tested and revealed and we are starting to figure out who the true antagonists are.

But first …

HMDYK About Billie Lourd

It’s been quite a while since I have written one of these posts. Time just got away from me. I’ll keep doing these posts because they are fun and, hopefully, interesting (if you’re reading them). We just passed the 5 year anniversary of Carrie Fisher’s death so I feel like this is a good topic. How much do you know about Billie Lourd? Carrie Fisher’s daughter.

Billie Catherine Lourd was born in LA in 1992, her father is Bryan Lourd. When you hear Carrie joke about having terrible “gaydar”, Billie’s father is to whom she is referencing. I’m sure you are also aware that Debbie Reynolds was her grandmother, Carrie’s mother. She is an NYU graduate, majoring in religion and psychology. She has one child with fiancĂ© Austen Rydell.

Star Wars and Leia’s Legacy

In 2015 Billie auditioned for the role of Rey in The Force Awakens. Obviously she didn’t get the part but J. J. Abrams wanted her in the movie (I assume because of her mother). So he created the role of Lieutenant Connix specifically for Billie. The Force Awakens is her first role, although the same year she was cast in Scream Queens. Her most recent role was in American Horror Story.

However, it’s not really about all of her roles that’s really made me admire Billie Lourd. Her connection with Star Wars and her mother is deep and special. She jokes that she had three parents when she was going up; a mom, a dad and Princess Leia. Mark Hamill affectionately refers to her as his “Space Niece”.

She fully embraced the role that made her mother famous. In every episode of Scream Queens she wore earmuffs as a nod to her mother. Billie even portrayed Leia in the flashback scene in The Rise of Skywalker. In 2019, 3 years after her mother’s death, TIME magazine wrote an article defining Billie Lourd as the Keeper of Princess Leia. You need to check out that article.

If there is ever anything developed during the sequel timeline, or after, I really hope Connix, and Billie, are part of it. I’d love to see more about that character. I think it would be cool to see that Connix is Force sensitive.

Biggs 2022 New Years Intentions

It’s that time again, time to make my 2022 New Years intentions. I made some progress in all of the areas in which I declared intentions in 2021. I will get into more details in each of their respective sections below. 2021 was not as challenging of a year as 2020 but it had its moments. This damn Covid virus continues to wreak havoc physically, mentally and emotionally. It has the country, and possibly the world, divided. Some are scared, some refuse to be afraid, and some just don’t know what to believe anymore. The media is at fault.

The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 2

The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 2

Title: The Tribes of Tatooine
Directed by: Steph Green
Runtime: 52 minutes

I am going to begin by getting something off my chest. Apparently this show is getting highly criticized because “they changed Boba Fett”. Boba Fett has about 3 minutes of total screen time across 11 movies; that is hardly sufficient time to establish everything about a character. I’m sorry if your creative meeting with Dave Filoni didn’t go your way, perhaps if you contact his secretary another meeting can be arranged.

We have this saying we tell our 7 year old when she doesn’t get her way: “You get what you get and you don’t get upset”. It’s pretty lame that a lesson for children has to be applied to adults. /EndSoapbox

Brief (Spoiler Free) Recap

Boba Fett’s attempts to establish his position as “daimyo” continues to meet more resistance. There are more that oppose his claim to Jabba’s throne. In his past, Boba continues to befriend the Tusken tribe that captured him by helping them thwart a familiar foe.

This is easily my favorite episode so far and that’s primarily because of the cameo’s. Before I get into that, we need to do this first …
