Trailers: Thunderbolts* Final Trailer

It’s a busy week. The start of Star Wars Celebration begins tonight and we have two new Marvel trailers this week. Here is the final trailer for Marvel’s Thunderbolts* coming out in a few weeks on May 2nd.

I’m glad I saw this trailer after the Fantastic Four First Steps trailer. There is significantly more energy coming from this trailer and I’m far more compelled to see this movie in the theater.

I don’t really have much to say about this trailer. The villain appears to be “The Void” or Dark Sentry, which I know nothing about. A quick Google search told me he (or it) is a dark force that tries to take out the “New Avengers” and even spars with the Fantastic Four and Doctor Strange. Perhaps this explains why we are also getting the Fantastic Four movie this year as well.

If you are savvy in Marvel canon please feel free to enlighten me more on The Void/Dark Sentry.

Trailers: Fantastic Four First Steps Official Trailer

The official trailer for Fantastic Four First Steps dropped today. Take a look.

It doesn’t look bad. I’m a little more interested in the film from this trailer than I was by the teaser trailer. We do get a couple of confirmations. Sue Storm is pregnant, which will be the first time Franklin Richards will appear in live action.

We also get confirmation that Shalla-Bal is the Silver Surfer and we get our first look of her as the hearld of Galactus. As I mentioned in the teaser trailer post, she is the lover/wife of Norrin Radd, whom we saw as the Silver Surfer in the first iteration of the Fantastic Four films. (We don’t talk about the one in 2015.)

While I will remain cautiously optimisitc, I’m not quite ready to run to the theater to see it. I’ll probably wait a while to see how it’s received by Marvel fans and audiances and that’s just out of sheer curiosity. Negative or positive, I’ll still see the film but it’ll ultimately boil down to theater or streaming service.

Movie Review: Captain America Brave New World

Captain America Brave New World movie poster

Directed by: Julius Onah
Starring: Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford
Release Date: February 14, 2025
Runtime: 1 hr 58 min
My Rating:

After an assassination attempt on the president, Sam is thrust into the middle of an international incident with an unknown antagonist. The MCU is still struggling to recreate the success they had with the films in the Infinity Saga. Honestly, I don’t think this film brings them any closer.

I wanted to give this movie four stars, and I almost did solely based on Harrison Ford’s performance. However, we expect great acting from a person of his caliber. Honestly, everyone in the cast does a great job and the action is solid. There is slight confusion around the story and its link to the previous films in the franchise.

Thunderbolts Trailer

Of course, the moment I commit to expanding my content a little bit, we get several new trailers that fall under the “geek canon” genre. DC has been stepping up their game with Superman so Marvel doubles down. First, it was the Fantastic Four First Steps trailer, then, during the Super Bowl, Marvel released the Thunderbolts trailer. Let’s have a look.

If I’m not mistaken Thunderbolts is the Marvel version of DC’s Suicide Squad; misfit anit-heros brought together to save humanity. Marvel needs a serious win right now. They have struggled since ending the Infinity Saga.

This trailer gives us some hope. The humor and dialog are very promising, I just hope they didn’t put all the funny parts in the trailer. The action looks good and engaging. I’m a little excited about it.

I am way behind on all of the series and I need to watch a couple of movies. It should be a goal to get caught up before I see any new films, including Captain America: Brave New World (which comes out this Friday). Thunderbolts* comes out May 2nd.

What are your thoughts?

Fantastic Four First Steps Teaser Trailer

Fantastic Four First Steps teaser

In my effort to expand the content of this blog, we have a new trailer that launched today. It is the reboot of the Fantastic Four franchise with a new cast, which, hopefully, will render better results than that disaster back in 2015. So without further ado here is the new Fantastic Four First Steps teaser trailer.

James Gunn’s Superman Teaser Trailer

James Gunn’s story about the son of Krypton has its first teaser trailer. It’s not often that I post many trailers that don’t pertain to Star Wars, but maybe I should. Perhaps I will try to do more of it as long as it’s something I think is interesting and I have some thoughts to share. Without further ado, here is James Gunn’s Superman teaser trailer.
