I know this is way outside the normal posts for this category, but we are such fans of Ashley Eckstein and what she’s done for the franchise. I would love to do a post about Ashley; however, she’s mostly known for her voice-over work as Ahsoka Tano. She is married to retired St Louis Cardinal shortstop David Eckstein. She is often seen at any con, and she loves meeting fans. She’s also an entrepreneur and started Her Universe in 2010. So, for one last time in 2025, how much do you know about Her Universe?

Girls Can Be Nerds, Too

Ashley Eckstein

When I think back to my childhood and teenage years, it was always the guys who were into geek media. If we talked about it openly, only guys would have conversations about Star Wars, Star Trek, and comic books. As I grew up and started attending more conventions, I realized it’s not as male-dominated as I was led to believe. Girls are into it too, which I totally approve (not that my approval is needed). When it came to shirts and other apparel, there just wasn’t much that appealed to women.

Enter Ashley Eckstein and Her Universe.

Her Universe is a fangirl fashion company. Girls can be nerds too, and Ashley noticed the significant lack of nerdy apparel for girls. Therefore, she launched Her Universe, which offers nerdy-themed clothes and accessories specifically designed for girls. It became so successful that she eventually expanded the designs to include men (which is the Our Universe section).

I have bought a few things there for myself. My favorite is a Revenge of the Sith baseball jersey. The quality is amazing, and it’s super comfortable. In fact, we have a wide selection of articles of clothing from Her Universe, including shirts, sweaters, jerseys, and lounge pants.

We’ve picked up a few Funko Pops! and my wife and daughter have also purchased a couple of LoungeFly bags.

Her Universe is our new ThinkGeek for nerdy swag. If you’re looking for something for your wife, daughter, or girlfriend, I definitely recommend going to Her Universe.
