Genre: Science Fiction
My Rating:
Ryland Grace wakes up, alone, in a spaceship twelve light years away from Earth. He doesn’t remember how he got there, but he is humanity’s last hope to prevent the extinction of all life on Earth.
It has been a while since I have posted a book review, but I enjoyed this book so much that I had to write something about it. This is the first book written by Andy Weir that I have read. I enjoy his writing style, where he places you in the main character’s head. It isn’t just the wit and charm of the main character I enjoyed, I loved all the science. I’m a bit of a Physics nerd.
This book is probably going into my top five. I enjoyed it about as much as I enjoyed Ender’s Game and Kubrick’s Game. After finishing this book, I jumped right into The Martian. I’ve heard some people say they actually like The Martian better, so I didn’t hesitate.
The Movie is Coming
Speaking of The Martian, which I haven’t seen yet, this book is also getting adapted into a film. A teaser trailer was released on June 30th, and you can watch that below. I saw the trailer before reading the book, and I had no problem imagining Ryan Gosling playing Ryland Grace.
Excited, question? Yes! “jazz hands”. (IYKYK)
If you haven’t read this book yet, I highly recommend it. You have until March 20, 2026, to get it done before the movie comes out.
