Title: The Mines of Mandalore
Director: Rachel Morrison
Runtime: 44 min
Din and Grogu find themselves on a ruined and inhospitable planet to recover myths and legends. Some “friendly” faces and some not-so-friendly faces return in this episode. More on that later.
I did enjoy this episode. There are fewer Easter Eggs and less foreshadowing than in the previous chapter. Perhaps the purpose of Chapter 17 is to foreshadow some events that may occur in this season. In fact I have a few theories of my own that I will discuss next.
Spoilers Ahead!!!
The hostile planet Din and Grogu visit is Mandalore (if the title of the episode hadn’t already given that away). I’ll admit I did not expect to be here in the second episode. This felt like something that was going to consume most of the season. Which begs the question, what is the premise of the remainder of the season?
Theories and Those “Friendly” Faces
Peli Motto is back and she’s still a swindler. This seems to be a common profession on some of these outer rim planets. R5-D4 is also back, again. Some of these blog sites are pathetic when they try to pretend this is the first time we are re-introduced to R5-D4 since A New Hope. He was in the very first season of The Mandalorian! It annoys me how some of these blog sites think we’re all idiots.
Also, that glimpse of the first ever, living mythosaur; and we get it in a live-action series! My inner-nerd was screaming. It is so exciting to see the creature that was the source of the famouse Mandalore sigil we’ve seen throughout all the ages of Star Wars.
They are hinting that Grogu may start talking. It’s hard to tell if the Grogu puppet has the articulation to begin speaking. We will see but my prediction is that if Grogu does speak, he will NOT have the unique dialect of Yoda. In fact I suspect he will most likey speak normal. Yaddle, who is also of Yoda’s species, speaks normal, as we saw in Tales of the Jedi.
What are your thoughts on The Mandalorian Chapter 18?
