minion-jediIssue 132: Greetings Again, Gamers! Autumn is officially upon us (which means the DayStar is in the sky less during the day) but that also means its going to get colder out. In just a couple of months the white stuff will be falling, and I don’t mean the kind in the middle of an Oreo (queue Weird Al). Be that as it may, Autumn means the summer season is over which means gaming season begins (because what else are you going to do when its no longer nice outside???) It also means we will be inundated with Pumpkin Spice flavored everything, which might be great for some, but I know others find it annoying (or even disgusting). Personally I just like Starbucks Pumpkin Spice latte, but everything else I could do without.

In any event, how about we get to the litany of gaming headlines. Non-MMO news includes something cool about the Star Wars Battlefront beta and Rise of the Tombraider. In actual MMO news, an exciting tweet about something sweet coming to The Secret World; more on the possible new Overwatch heroes. Finally, in convention news, a little reminder of what you get when you watch/attend BlizzCon. KCGO.

When the game enters beta it will be an open beta to all and it will be available on all platforms (i.e. XBox One, PS4 and Windows PC). Online and offline modes will also be available during the beta and you can check out the awesome trailer. The beta begins October 8th!

hoverboardWait! Did He Say Hoverboards??!

Posted 9.18.15 – The Lead Designer for The Secret World sent a tweet out that contained a short video. The video shows a character on a hoverboard! Considering the context of the world of The Secret World, a hoverboard seems like the perfect addition. It doesn’t appear to be live yet; presumably it will be in the next update? It’s allegedly a “sprint customization”. I guess we will have to wait and see!

New Rise of the Tombraider Trailer

Posted 9.21.15 – Microsoft has published a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming Rise of the Tombraider. It looks a smooth and wicked cool as the first game. I cannot image how incredible it will look on the X-Box One and/or Playstation 4. Granted PS4 (and PC) gamers will not be able to find out until next year, while X-Box One and 360 folks will find out November 10th. I’m really loving the revamp of this game that I grew up playing!

A Look At BlizzCon In-Game Goodies

murlocPosted 9.21.15 – It’s never too early to talk about BlizzCon, although its only about 8 weeks away. If you purchased either a virtual ticket or you are among the lucky folks to go to BlizzCon then you will have some in-game goodies coming your way for WoW, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, StartCraft II and Diablo III. I’m sure you know what they are but you can check out the round-up posted on the Blizzard website (if you need to renew your excitement).

New Overwatch Heroes Official

Posted 9.21.15 – It’s only been a week since the random “Wanted Poster” surfaced on twitter and all the postulating began as to what it meant in regards to Overwatch. I thought perhaps they were going to let us hypothesize until November and tell us at BlizzCon but I guess Blizzard decided to show a little compassion this time (granted it was a little early to start the teasers). Junkrat and Roadhog are the new Overwatch evil heroes; check out the video to see more of these two. My guess now, these guys will be playable at BlizzCon, which will probably be when the beta starts.

Dragon Age: Inquisition GOTY

NOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION!Posted 9.22.15 – Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition!!!! Yea, well, anyway if you have been waffling about picking up Dragon Age: Inquisition, you might want to wait to do so for a couple more weeks. Bioware and EA have created a “Game of the Year” edition which will contain the base game, all major DLC, as well as the goodies from the Deluxe Edition. So far this version will only be available for the current console systems (i.e. X-Box One and PS4) as well as the PC.
