The epic conclusion to the Broadway show that became a theatrical smash hit. Elphaba is officially the Wicked Witch of the West and is hunted by all of Oz, but she’s determined to expose the Wizard. From what I understand, the play and these movies are vastly different from the book (pub. 1995). Personally, I think this movie doesn’t quite live up to the first one.
The first Wicked (which I saw for the first time mere hours before I saw the second) is pretty good. I understand all the hype. The musical numbers are organic and don’t feel forced. In a musical, the songs should help emphasise a story point or develop a character. We shouldn’t get a song just because it’s been a while since the last song. La La Land is a good example.
One of the issues I had with La La Land was that, while still a good movie, some of the musical numbers felt forced. Unfortunately, I think Wicked For Good suffers from a similar issue. A couple of the musical numbers felt a little forced. I also think the first film had some better bangers (ex, Popular) while I can barely remember the musical numbers from the second one.
I’d watch it again only because I watched the first one again. Although, is that really fair to say? You obviously can’t have the second act without the first. However, if you watch the first one, does that mean you have to watch the second?
Be that as it may, if you enjoyed the first one, then you should see the conclusion. It’s still enjoyable, it’s just not as much fun as the first.

“The screen is a magic medium. It has such power that it can retain interest as it conveys emotions and moods that no other art form can hope to tackle.”
