Directed by: Luke Greenfield
Starring: Kevin James, Alan Ritchson
Release Date: 11/12/2025
Runtime: 1h 33m
My Rating:

Brian (Kevin James) becomes a stay-at-home dad to his step-son. He accepts a playdate invitation from another stay-at-home dad (Alan Ritchson), who turns out to be a loose cannon.

This movie is getting absolutely roasted by folks despite it being the most-streamed movie on Prime Video in November. It’s a fun parent-comedy movie that doesn’t take itself too seriously. I considered giving this movie four stars because I don’t have the icons for 3 1/2 stars.

It Has a Good Cast and Solid Performances

I do enjoy Kevin James’ comedy films, and he doesn’t disappoint. Alan Ritchson is mostly known for playing Jack Reacher in the Reacher series, and this is quite different from that role. He does a great job playing the obtuse, maybe a bit naive, tough guy. This movie also has a great supporting cast with Sarah Chalke, Alan Tudyk and Isla Fisher.

There are quite a few very funny moments in the movie that are not in the trailer. I will admit, the movie does jump the shark a little bit with the fight sequence at the end, thus why I didn’t go for four stars. Be that as it may, I’d still watch it again. They allude to a sequel which I would also watch. Although with a movie like this, a sequel could be awful if they take the quirkiness too far.

The movie is available to watch on Prime Video with a subscription.
