I realize this isn’t comic book or Star Wars related but it’s kind of fantasy. Honestly, it’s here because I’ve enjoyed the animated films and television series. However, with that said, did we need a live-action adaptation? In my opinion, no. I don’t understand this obsession with creating live-action adaptations of animated films. Be that as it may, here is the How to Train Your Dragon trailer for the live-action adaptation.
It looks pretty loyal to the original film as far as the story is concerned, I hope they keep the characters consistent. The casting looks pretty good, although it’s going to be weird not hearing the original voices except for Stoick. Gerard Butler reprises the role of Stoick the Vast. The original writer, Dean DeBlois is also back to not only write but to direct as well. And, to give you all the nostalgic feels, the original music composer, John Powell, is back to do the music for this live-action adaptation.
I’m a big fan of this franchise but I didn’t need a live-action adaptation. There is still going to be quite a bit of digital animation for all the dragons so can we consider this full live-action? However, since they did make one I’ll probably go see it. In fact, I’m sure I’ll be seeing it with my daughter who is also a big fan.
What did you think of the trailer?

“The screen is a magic medium. It has such power that it can retain interest as it conveys emotions and moods that no other art form can hope to tackle.”
– Stanley Kubrick
