Since The Mandalorian is back and (already) half way through the third season, let’s talk about Katee Sackhoff. She is one of my favorite science fiction actresses. I’ve seen quite a few of her other shows; perhaps you have too.

Of course, in Star Wars, she is Bo-Katan Kryze in The Mandalorian. Actually, she’s been the voice of Bo-Katan since 2012 when the character first appeared in the fourteenth episode in season four of The Clone Wars (“A Friend in Need“). There is more to her than blasters and darksabers. How much do you know about Katee Sackhoff?

Frakking Toasters and Riding Horses

She was born in Portland, Oregon, and graduated high school in 1998. She almost pursued a career in swimming professionally until a knee injury killed that dream. Her first acting gig was in a movie called “Fifteen and Pregnant”, which also starred Kirsten Dunst. Kirsten is the reason Katee moved to Hollywood to pursue an acting career.

She’s been in a few movies. They seem mostly horror or thriller movies (ex: Halloween: Resurrection, Oculus, Don’t Knock Twice). However, the bulk of her career is in television acting. Her most notable role is Captain Kara ‘Starbuck’ Thrace in Battlestar Galactica (2004), which is where I first saw her.

Katee in “Longmire” with Robert Taylor

She is also ‘Vic’ Moretti in Longmire (a really good show, by the way). She was also the recurring villain Amunet Black in The Flash (2017). Her success in pop culture and science fiction has garnered her various cameos in shows like The Big Bang Theory, Futurama, The Cleveland Show, etc.

It is very exciting to see her portraying the live-action version of Bo-Katan. She has a much larger role in this season of The Mandalorian than I was expecting. There is a part of me that wonders if that was always the plan or if it was the result of the Gina Carano situation. Whatever the reason, I’m digging it!
