Issue 144: The open beta of Overwatch has captured the attention of hundreds of gamers and thus has been making the usual headlines around the various gaming news media outlets. The superfluity of the news about Overwatch, however, is a pleasant change from the excessive political garbage on television and Facebook. I think that’s why I read more gaming news than actual news; for the most part, its politically agnostic. The Overwatch open beta has wrapped up, which is unfortunate if you haven’t pre-ordered the game. I hope you got a chance to play it and if so, I’d like to hear your thoughts. I will express mine [… Click to Continue …]
If you’re a fan of the Warcraft franchise then you ought to be excited for the movie release (although I’m still nervous about the stigma of games-made-into-a-movie). Here is the latest trailer: Did you see him??? There is the briefest of glimpses of Medivh! I hope he is as awesome as he appears in that trailer!
I’ll admit the Warcraft movie looks pretty good. I hope it changes the stigma of pretty much all games-made-into-movies from the past. I doubt this will be as good as The Force Awakens, but that’s probably because I’m a much bigger fan of Star Wars than I am of Warcraft (and I seriously doubt it will make $900 million). If you haven’t seen the latest TV spot (during Tom Brady’s satisfying loss) you can click play below. Enjoy.
Issue 136: Ghoulish Greetings Gamers! What nerdy costume did you wear this year (or your children, mine was Supergirl)? I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween. Remember that on the 27th Blizzard started the beta for Overwatch so during your sugar-induced insomnia, perhaps you were lucky enough to receive an invite to it. By the way, if you did receive an invite and you are allowed to talk about the beta, please feel free to write a post on my blog; come see me if you are interested. The 27th also marks the official launch of the next SWTOR expansion, Knights of the Fallen [… Click to Continue …]
Issue 122: Does the name Satoru Iwata mean anything to you? It’s alright if you didn’t know who he was, but if you are a gamer I think you should silently bestow some reverence. He was the CEO of Nintendo and a game developer pioneer who recently passed away. I know Nintendo had very little to do with MMO games but a gamer is always a gamer no matter what platform they prefer. I have a link to a great article about his life that you should check out in this issue. Sadness aside, the SDCC definitely provided us all with many funny feelings in our [… Click to Continue …]
Issue 121: The biggest Comic-Con of the year, SDCC, was at the Anaheim Convention Center July 9th-12th! I tell you, some day I have to go to this event just to say I was there. If I raise my kid(s) right way they will also want to go so perhaps they will be my way to get out there! Personally I’m not into cosplay, however if they wanted to dress up then I would certainly oblige. Speaking of cosplay, did you see the endearing story about the guy that walked 650 miles to Comic-Con dressed as a Stormtrooper in memory of his wife that had recently [… Click to Continue …]
