Star Wars: Is Palpatine Omniscient?

Quick spoiler warning, this topic discusses the events of episodes 7 and 8 of The Bad Batch Season 2. If you haven’t watched those yet, it behooves you to return after you have. The inspiration for this post comes from something I saw on Twitter. At the end of episode 8 (Truth and Consequences), the Emperor implies that he had foreseen the outcome of the vote to pass the Defense Recruitment Bill. This is a common claim by the Emperor which begs the question is Palpatine omniscient?

Force Manipulation

The short answer is no (IMO). If Palpatine actually knew all outcomes he would be unstoppable. As we saw he is defeated, twice. I think he boasts that he has foreseen events as a fear tactic; to convince his enemies their efforts are futile. The other possibility is that he only sees what he wants to see and not actual future events. The Sith are notorious for manipulating the Force to further their own agenda. Therefore one can assume Palpatine’s “visions” are a manipulation of the actual events.

Where Is The Bad Batch Episodic Post?

The Bad Batch Season 2

We are a week into the second season of The Bad Batch. It’s a series that follows a group of genetically altered clone troopers after Order 66. Some of you might be wondering where is The Bad Batch episodic post.

The short answer is that I hadn’t planned on doing posts for all the episodes as I do for live-action. The Bad Batch appeals to a much more niche audience. Fans of The Clone Wars and the first season are the target demographic for this show. I feel the live-action series target a much broader audience.

If there is a desire for episodic posts I can certainly oblige (although given the meager audience I have, I’m not expecting a response). If you’ve never watched The Bad Batch or any of the animated series, I highly encourage you to do so. They are canon (ex: Ahsoka, Hera, Sabine, etc) and they do enrich the overall Star Wars Disney universe.

If you are watching The Bad Batch (and you’re reading this), leave a comment with your thoughts.

Star Wars Canon vs Legends

From USA Today – October 30, 2012

The fandoms first real controversy began with the prequels (if you exclude the “Han Shot First” deal). However, this isn’t about my opinion of the prequels (I love them, btw). This is about what happened 10 years ago, when George Lucas decided he was finished making Star Wars movies and sold the rights of the franchise over to Disney. One of Disney’s first acts was the “decanonization” of anything written after Return of the Jedi (also known as the Extended Universe, or EU for short). Thus begins the Star Wars Canon vs Legends discussion.
