Title: In The Name of Honor
Directed by: Robert Rodriguez
Runtime: 1 hour
Well folks, here we are. The final episode. Will there be more? Some people are calling The Book of Boba Fett “The Mandalorian Season 2.5”. I suppose that makes a little sense given the past two episodes. Personally I’d watch another season of Boba Fett, however a season two may depend on what happens in Season Three of The Mandalorian. Although, on the Disney+ app, Chapter 7 is labeled as “Season” finale. Hmm…
As a heads up, there is a post credits scene (between the artwork credits and the black screen credits). I’m not going to spoil it here but worth watching so you don’t have questions later.
The following content contains spoilers for The Book of Boba Fett s1e7.
Rancors and Chainmail
There has to be another season because I really want to see more of Boba riding a rancor. I was very happy to see that calf tearing apart those Scorpenek droids. Yes, keep in mind that Boba’s rancor is just a calf, i.e. not full grown; I loved seeing that beast in action!
We learn that Grogu has chosen attachment over training. I believe this puts Grogu on a dark path. Anakin was driven to the dark side because of his attachments. My (unpopular) opinion is that Grogu should have stayed with Luke. Chapter 5 of this series taught us that Din Djarin can carry an episode without Grogu. Reuniting them could be Disney continuing to milk the “baby yoda phenomenon”.
I could be wrong and this is part of the plan. Perhaps after the series ends, Grogu will return to Luke to train. Of course that means he may be murdered by Ben Solo in a few years.
The Big Showdown(s)!
Now let’s talk about the meat of this show and the ending. I love the synergy of Din and Boba. Their chemistry is sublime. I do find it interesting that Fennec disagrees about ending spice trading. It adds an unexpected layer of complexity to her character. She’s still not quite ready to be the hero.
Krrsantan can sure take a beating but I have a couple of comments. I feel like we should have seen more melee combat between him and the Trandoshans. Especially considering the history there. Although I love how he manhandles those Pyke soldiers! Also, he sure did recover quickly after Boba had to help him to take cover during the shootout at the Sanctuary. He suddenly went from limping to running away from the Scorpenek droids. I feel like that might have been a director’s goof, although it’s possible someone gave him a stim and I didn’t notice.
Let’s talk about that showdown all of us wanted to see. Fans of The Clone Wars know Cad Bane and Boba have a history since he was young. The showdown between the two of them is the conclusion of a 20 year feud. Cad Bane is one of my favorite characters and I hated to see him finally defeated. We knew one of them had to die during this face off and Cad Bane isn’t the young Duros he once was, though he is still quick and quite nimble. I’m glad it was Boba that finally ends his career … with a gaffi stick! Ironic.
Although, as Luke once said, “nobody is ever really gone …” 😉
Oh and this scene …
Loved it! There has always been a mysterious and elusive connection between Force users and the creatures of the universe. We saw it in Rebels, The Rise of Skywalker, The Clone Wars, and now here. I love the continuity!!
Next is Kenobi!!! I cannot wait!!!
