Let’s review the 97th Academy Awards results and see how I did. Again, I did not watch the show because I’m not interested in some celebrity’s political pontificating. I have heard there are some cool moments, especially for Mikey Madison and Kieran Culkin.
In short, for my first year back, I did not do very well. Granted I hadn’t seen any of the movies that were nominated. Maybe I’ll try to do better for the 98th Academy Awards. Most of my predictions are wrong but there are some pleasant surprises. Let’s look at the results.

So there are a couple of surprises here. With 13 nominations, I thought Emilia Pérez would win more, but only walked away with 2. The big winner was Anora with 5 Oscars. I’m happy for Adrien Brody for winning his second Best Actor Oscar and Mikey Madison for winning her first Oscar. I feel bad for Edward Norton who missed out, a fourth time, to win an Oscar for his performance as Pete Seeger. He is an amazing actor and long overdue for his own Academy Award.
A Culkin Wins Big

One of the best moments, and probably the best acceptance speech ever, comes from Kieran Culkin. Click on the link to watch his speech. I’m glad they gave him extra time to tell his story about his wife. If only all acceptance speeches at the Academy Awards were equally pure and refreshing. Looking at all of the images and videos of Kieran after his win is pure gold. Seeing what little Fuller (from Home Alone) has become is amazing. I wish him continued success and I hope he maintains that purity and innocence. There needs to be more of it in Hollywood.
I’ll try again with this year’s films and perhaps I’ll have better luck. Until then, on with the show!

“The screen is a magic medium. It has such power that it can retain interest as it conveys emotions and moods that no other art form can hope to tackle.”
