Another Celebration is in the books and we had some great reveals. If you paid attention this past weekend then you probably know everything I will cover in this Star Wars Celebration Japan recap. If you didn’t, then keep reading.

On second thought, if you did pay attention, please read it anyway and post anything I left out.

Sadly, I did not go to the actual event. It just wasn’t an affordable trip for me, however, I did watch several of the interviews and kept tabs on my favorite Star Wars content creators who were there.

Several Projects in Development

There are six film projects that are in various stages of active development. These include projects by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Shawn Levy, James Mangold, Taika Waititi, a Simon Kinberg trilogy, and, of course, The Mandalorian and Grogu movie. We did learn that the Mandalorian and Grogu movie has an official release date of May 22nd, 2026.

The other surprise we got is the name of Shawn Levy’s film, Star Wars Starfighter and will star Ryan Gosling. It will take place approximately five years after The Rise of Skywalker. This movie is set to release Memorial Day weekend in 2027. Here is the official announcement on the Star Wars Twitter/X account.

Animation and Video Games

They announced a new animated series called Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord. Sam Witwer will reprise the voice of Darth Maul in this series. It is set to take place between The Clone Wars and Rebels, possibly even before the Solo movie.

Nubs from Young Jedi Adventures

There will be another season of Star Wars Visions and a couple episodes will be continuations of a few episodes from the previous seasons. We are also getting a third season of Young Jedi Adventures (more Nubs!!).

In games, there will be a new story pack for Star Wars Outlaws called A Pirate’s Fortune and players will get to work with a very familiar face. A new game was announced called Star Wars Zero Company which takes place during the Clone Wars. It looks pretty good.

Those are the stories I found most interesting. I highly recommend going over to the Star Wars YouTube channel and watching some of the interviews. The Anthony Carboni’s interview of Anthony Daniels is always fantastic.

The next Star Wars Celebration will be at the LA Convention Center in 2027 for the 50th anniversary of Star Wars. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for that one.
