This was teased yesterday (Jan 21). Apprently we have teaser trailers for the teaser trailers now. I wasn’t going to annoy you with a post about that. Instead, I waited until the trailer was officially released. So check out the Masters of the Universe teaser trailer.
Those of us who are GenX or early millennials probably remember the cartoons and the 1987 movie starring Dolph Lundgren. The movie was pretty campy, but we don’t care because we all loved the toys and the animated series. This looks promising, but I’ll remain cautiously optimistic. I do have a couple of critiques.
I know some people might roll their eyes because of the pronouns on his name placard, and I know I did. However, when I thought about it some more, I think it’s actually a clever way to foreshadow who he really is.

Skeletor looks amazing! Let’s hope that Jared Leto’s Skeletor is better than his Morbius. Also, Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms is a great cast! I’m not familiar with Nicholas Galitzine, who is cast as He-Man; I haven’t seen anything else that he’s been in. There are a lot of other great names in this adaptation, including Morena Baccarin, Alison Brie, and Kristen Wiig.
Finally, where is Orko?? He wasn’t in the 1987 film, and he is absent from this trailer! Why is Orko never seen in live-action adaptations??

“The screen is a magic medium. It has such power that it can retain interest as it conveys emotions and moods that no other art form can hope to tackle.”
