Initial Impressions of Dragonflight

The latest World of Warcraft expansion has been out for about two weeks. I have reached the new level cap on at least one character (my raid toon, obviously). As I embark on the first raid of this expansion, let me share my initial impressions of Dragonflight.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

I’ve been on a Clint Eastwood kick recently, so I will use the title of one of his best films to break down my initial thoughts.

Instead of picking another genre theme for the month of November, I decided to make it kind of a “catch-all”. Therefore November’s movie theme is Random. This could mean a random genre not represented in the other months—perhaps more minor or niche genres. Examples are sports movies, musicals, crime, biopics, etc. I may also make it themed based on a particular actor or franchise. For example, James Bond, which is the theme for this month (if you couldn’t tell from the title 🙂 ).

Final Thoughts on Andor Season One

Another excellent Star Wars series is in the bag. The good news is there will be a season two, unfortunately, it won’t be out until 2024. However, there will be plenty of other Star Wars series to watch until then. Be that as it may, here are my final thoughts on Andor season one.

This was probably the most unanticipated Star Wars series. In fact, even I internally debated if we needed a series about Cassian Andor. However, I am an avid Star Wars fanatic. Obviously, I’m going to watch it on Day One!

I was wrong. Andor is the Star Wars series I didn’t know I wanted. If I hadn’t made it very clear in all my episode recaps, let me make it clear now.

My Rating:

Christmas movie month is December but the Christmas season starts the day after Thanksgiving. This is when we decided to watch the sequel to “A Christmas Story”. The usual comments ensued when this movie was announced. “Hollywood is out of ideas!” “Why ruin a classic?”. Yadda yadda yadda. I’ll admit that I was skeptical. I’m not one of those people that can continuously watch this movie during its 24-hour marathon on Christmas Day. However, I’m also not one of those people that despise it either. Once is good enough for me.

The question then is, how well does this movie live up to the original?

I quite enjoyed it! As far as Christmas movies go, this is definitely in the top 20 must-watch Christmas movies! I would still recommend watching this one even if you are not a fan of the original movie. In fact, I might even go so far as to say this is better than the original! I may even watch it a second time this year!

Well folks, here we are. We are on the eve of Dragonflight, Blizzard’s 10th World of Warcraft expansion. I have moved all my toons out of Oribos and back to their respective capital city. As we return from saving the afterlife and begin our adventures in the Dragon Isles, let’s do an expansion character recap.

Being the nerd that I am, I have a spreadsheet in Google sheets to track my goals all through the Shadowlands. I began this spreadsheet during Battle for Azeroth but kicked it up a notch during this expansion. Many have already told me that there are addons that will do a lot of this for me. I appreciate the suggestions but I enjoy doing it my way instead. I am going to use that spreadsheet to discuss my Shadowlands progress. You’ve been warned that this post will be a little data-heavy.

Andor Episode 12 is the Season One finale; just in time for Thanksgiving (if you live in the US). This episode will give you plenty to talk about at Thanksgiving dinner (instead of politics). We know there will be a time-lapse between this season and the next. How will this season end?

Cassian returns home for his mother’s funeral, which has a sacred and honored tradition on Ferrix. However, is he walking into a trap? Everyone is there looking for him to either arrest him or kill him. Tensions among the citizens are high because of the Empire’s presence and things are hitting their tipping point.
