Turkey Mastication Event

This week is Thanksgiving, the holiday that marks that start of the holiday season. I do enjoy Thanksgiving, espeically at Beth’s. Italian style Thanksgiving not only means turkey but pasta as well. I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving. Get stuffed, over-induldge, give thanks for all that we have in our lives.

Happy Thanksgiving and an early Merry Christmas!!!

The Flu Encounter

The past week I have been sick with the flu. I’m not certain if I caught the pig flu, although taking into consideration that I have been feeling ill for several consecutive days I would have to assume that it was, in fact, the pig flu. As of this writing I’m starting to recover, while feeling a bit light headed at the moment, I haven’t had a fever since last night and my voice has returned.

Thursday and Friday were probably the worst days; Thursday I had a fever and the chills for most of the day while losing my voice and Friday I was taking DayQuil all day and apparently it contains Acetaminophen which means I could not take my Ultracet. So I while I was fighting the flu I was in significant pain; quite a perfect predicament for a Friday the 13th stereotype.

Jedi Knight Class Unveiled

I had to stop and take a brief moment to express my excitement about Bioware’s latest announcement about the upcoming Star Wars MMORPG, The Old Republic. They have unveiled the Jedi Knight as a playable class. Here is a link to the page about the class: http://www.swtor.com/info/holonet/classes/jedi-knight. Just looking at the very brief 6 sec clips of in-game combat it already looks very cool. Also, when I was looking through some of the artist renderings about the class I noticed double bladed lightsaber hilts … could this mean your jedi can wield a double bladed lightsaber? The mere thought of that just makes me giddy like a school girl.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Now that the head cold has passed it was time to enjoy the weekend. Granted I didn’t do anything extraordinary but there were some upsides and surprises. Purdue winning over Illinois was definitely top on the list for surprises, followed up immediately by the Bengals huge win over Da’ Bears. I really thought Miami was going to persevere over the unstoppable Saints and I was really hoping the Giants would have been victorious over Arizona. Gotta love Football.

Since Fraiser ended in 2004 I have been looking for a new high-brow comedy for my guilty intellectual indulgence and I think I have found a new show as recommended by one of my co-workers; The Big Bang Theory. A show that not only has smart humor but I find that I can easily relate to the types of characters in the show … you know, geeks. I have already added it to the “shows to be DVR’ed”.

Acute Viral Rhinopharyngitis

A majority of the past week I have been fighting a bad head cold. I usually get one about once a year. Thankfully this year I didn’t lose my voice, which is usually a common trait of most colds I get. Either way it was annoying as hell. I think I have finally beaten it though, last night I was feeling quite alert. Just about every night this week about 8:00 I start to feel like I could fall asleep standing up. Eventually the misery just becomes unbearable and I go to bed only to have a restless and pseudo-sleepless night unless I take Nyquil which usually puts me right to sleep; but I hate medicated sleep because it leaves me feeling just as drowsy and lousy in the morning. Furthermore, my knees are screaming because Dayquil/Nyquil both contain acetaminophen which means I can’t take my Ultracet unless I want liver failure … joy. You can imagine I was in a gem of a mood …

Delayed

So it has been a while since I have posted, last I told everyone we landscaped the front of the house. It’s been a little busy, so much football to watch, so much WoW to play, you know … the important things. We discovered Red Box recently, a dollar a day for a movie … you know what that means … time to fire up the old DVD burner. Time to go, tonight we are hitting Trial of the Crusader, hopefully we will take out Anub’arak tonight … that would be most excellent.
